Optinum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Powder
February 19, 2017
This is a picture of a Protein supplement in powder form. There are various forms but the powder form is most widely used. Basically what this does is to help fulfill your necessary protein requirement for the day. It varies from person to person but research shows that a person should be consuming around 0.8 - 1.2g of protein per kg of weight. You may hear people say 1g of protein per lb of body weight if you are working out more intensely than other people. Protein is needed in order to make your muscle grow; after all, your muscles are made up of protein. The more muscle a person has, the more calories he/she will burn while sitting on the couch. (keep that in mind the next time you think that you don't want a few extra pounds of muscle)
Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA)
February 19, 2017
Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA) are basically some of the essential amino acids that your body cannot make by themselves and has to get them from your food or supplementation. It is used to help muscle recover faster and indirectly help fat metabolism. You can think of this as another type of protein but more rich in the "good" stuff for your muscle so you only need a few amounts of it in order for your daily requirement to be hit. Regular protein powder will have some BCAA mixed into their powder so the absorption for them may take longer but still have the same effect. BCAA is just another "insurance" policy for hitting the numbers needed. If you are just eating food correctly and consuming the amount of protein needed, there is no need for any type of protein supplements that are listed in this page. Protein supplements are there for convenience or for people who do not have a lot of time to prepare meals every meal. This product does contain fewer calories than regular protein powder which is important for those who are cutting or trying to become more lean. But do not forget that there are a total of 8-9 essential amino acids that your body cannot make and BCAA only contains 3 of them. So you still need other protein sources to get all your macros in.
Fish Oil
April 07, 2017
Fish oil is an important part of any one's diet. It is a type of fatty acid that helps lower heart disease, helps reduce skin dryness, helps with lowering blood pressure and keeping the shine in your hair. The body is composed of three macro molecules and cutting off one completely will disrupt how your body will function. The three macromolecules are carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Many people cut off fat completely thinking that all fat is the same but that isn't the case. For example, your cells contain a hydrophobic layer (hydrophobic head) and hydrophilic layer (hydrophylic tail) which is important for cellular diffusion, getting things in and out of the cell. Your body needs fat and fish oil or omega fatty acid 3 is an essential oil for building healthy and functional cells. Also a little bit of advice, try avoiding saturated fat because those are the bad fat that builds up in your body and clog your arteries. Look for items that have more unsaturated or polyunsaturated fat. Remember, portion control; even the healthiest item in the world can be bad for you if you eat too much of it.
Creatine
February 19, 2017
Creatine monohydrate helps replenish energy levels in your muscles. Research shown that a person who takes 3-5g per day shows an increase in strength performance level of 26%. You may experience heavier weight due to the excessive retention of water needed in order for creatine to replenish ATP storages in your cell. So you will feel more pumped or bigger while taking this supplement and see a huge weight gain on your scale. Contrary to belief, creatine does not help muscle growth directly but indirectly. Creatine helps you push more weight therefore your muscles can grow faster increasing its size. So you won't see a negative impact on your gains when you go off creatine. However, theoretically, your weight will go down when you stop taking the supplement due to the loss of water and you also probably wont be able to get that extra rep you could do with creatine.
Pre-Workout
February 19, 2017
Pre-Workout contains a massive amount of energy boosting vitamins and minerals. It also have higher dosage of caffeine per scoop than in two cups of coffee. This is beneficial depending on the type of goals you have set for yourself and the time frame. If you're a type of person who needs to get that body shape fast and only have a few months to do it, then pre workout can definitely help you get the energy level to perform your maximum every time you workout. However, be wary since this type of supplement can make your body build a tolerance for and it'll require more scoops to have the same effect as your first one. Typically, people use it on days they don't feel like their energy level is quite up there or if they are feeling lazy; this product can help get you to start working out again. Side effects may include minor headache and faster heart rate. This is something I do not recommend for beginners.
Multivitamin pills
February 20, 2017
There are different kinds of vitamin pills out there with different absorption levels. Be wary of which brand you purchase from and do a little research on their vitamin pills before purchasing. This is one of the vitamin pills i would recommend. Anyway, when choosing a multivitamin, remember that the best source of vitamins and minerals come from eating a balance diet instead of replacing it with a pill due to the fact that real food have higher absorption rate than any pill that is out there. When you do choose a multivitamin, make sure it is not a 1 a day vitamin because the body can only absorb so much at one time before it gets wasted. The more pills you need to take per day for a vitamin the better since it is splitting the dosage into a fewer amount that the body can absorb. Obviously you do not want to take the full dosage since you are probably eating a balance diet since you are interested in training with me or fitness in general. Therefore, taking 1 out of 3 pills per day would be enough to fulfill the insurance that you get all your vitamins and minerals for the day.
Fat Burner
February 19, 2017
Fat burner contains small amounts of caffeine and energy boosters as well as plant extracts that help the metabolism of fat. In many cases, Fat burner has worked for a lot of individual who are already on a workout plan and a clean diet. This is not a magical pill that will work if your diet isn't clean or if you are not putting the effort at the gym. Then again most people see dramatic changes not because they are taking the fat burner but because they changed their workout plan and diet. In my personal experience, it has helped me lose a couple of weight that i could never have done without it since my weight remained constant for two years with a clean diet and exercise plan. I stopped the use after 2 months and my weight stayed at its new equilibrium.
Casein Protein
February 19, 2017
Casein is a protein supplement similar to that of its counterpart Whey protein powder. The difference between the two is that Casein is known to digest slower than your regular whey protein. This is most beneficial if you are on a weight loss goal since Casein tends to make you feel full much longer due to its slow ability to digest. Also, this molecule can be found in your everyday meat consumption just like the protein you have in whey protein. So the only real beneficial factor of taking Casein is if you want to feel full but keep a calorie deficit diet going as well as insuring that you are consuming the necessary amount of protein your body requires in one day. However, the idea of this supplement is to decrease the rate at which your muscles are broken down when exercising. So if you're running long distances or doing something that would break down muscles to use as energy, casein can help decrease the breakdown process.
